Hyderabad, July 11 (NationPress) The working president of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), K. T. Rama Rao, has raised concerns regarding the BJP's inaction on the encroachment of land associated with the Seetha Ramachandra Swamy temple in Bhadrachalam, Telangana.
On Friday, KTR expressed his views on the social media platform 'X', questioning why the BJP remains silent over the encroachment of 889.5 acres of temple land located in Andhra Pradesh.
He challenged Telangana BJP president Ramachandra Rao, asking, "Why is the Bhadrachalam land not considered sacrosanct by your party?"
KTR further inquired, "Does BJP President Ramachandra Rao lack the time to defend our Bhadrachala Ramachandra Prabhu? Why is it that the BJP has remained silent on the matter of 889.5 acres of temple land being seized? Is it because of your need to safeguard your political alliances in Andhra Pradesh?"
He urged the BJP to speak out, despite political ties, in order to reclaim the Bhadrachalam land, which has been unlawfully taken, in defiance of the High Court's rulings.
On Tuesday, the temple's Executive Officer, L. Rama Devi, faced violence from villagers in Purushothapatnam while attempting to halt construction on the encroached temple property. She collapsed and required hospitalization in Bhadrachalam.
This well-known Ram temple in Bhadrachalam, situated in Bhadradri Kothagudem district of Telangana, encompasses nearly 890 acres in Purushothapatnam, a village that was transferred to Andhra Pradesh following the state's bifurcation in 2014.
Encroachments persist despite the Andhra Pradesh High Court mandating the restoration of the land to the temple.
On Tuesday, Rama Devi visited the village, now part of Etapaka Mandal in Alluri Sitharamaraju district of Andhra Pradesh, to address violations and halt constructions. However, she and her accompanying temple staff were confronted and assaulted by the encroachers.
