Hyderabad, Feb 16 (NationPress) The working president of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), K.T. Rama Rao, expressed his strong disapproval on Monday regarding what he termed as undemocratic behaviors exhibited by the ruling Congress party, along with the aggression directed towards BRS leaders amid the elections for chairpersons and vice-chairpersons of municipalities in Telangana. He stated it was shameful that the government and law enforcement, who are expected to uphold the people's mandate, behaved like thugs.

In his statement, KTR conveyed his outrage over attempts made to abduct elected representatives by Congress MPs and MLAs, alongside attacks occurring in multiple locations.

He specifically criticized the police actions in towns such as Thorrur, Jangaon, Kaytanapalli, and Kagaznagar throughout the state.

KTR accused the Congress party of trying to abduct candidates in various towns, asserting this reflects the 'Gunda Raj' associated with the Congress. He expressed his fury that both officials and police collaborated with ruling party leaders, thus violating the election code.

The BRS leader denounced the involvement of ministers and MLAs in manipulating the selection process of chairpersons through illicit means.

He emphasized that registering fraudulent votes in the names of ex officio members is a disgrace to democracy.

KTR pointed out the 'atrocities' surrounding the selection of municipal chairpersons, expressing his anger over how Congress leaders exploited police resources to intimidate and assault BRS members in various areas.

He fiercely condemned the assaults on former ministers, MLAs, senior party leaders, and activists by 'Congress goons' in numerous towns, noting that police inaction to prevent these attacks reflects the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.

KTR demanded immediate intervention from the state DGP to take stringent actions against officers colluding with the Congress party.

He raised objections regarding the postponement of elections in places where a quorum was present, suggesting this was influenced by the ruling party.

KTR called for the State Election Commission to respond promptly and conduct a thorough investigation into these irregularities, urging that legal actions be initiated against those involved in abductions and assaults to protect the integrity of democracy.

Point of View

The allegations made by K.T. Rama Rao reflect deeper issues within Indian politics, where the sanctity of elections is increasingly compromised. This situation warrants a comprehensive examination to ensure that democratic processes are upheld.
