Congress Legislators Protest at MP Assembly with Tea Kettles and Liquor Bottle Garlands

Bhopal, Dec 18 (NationPress) The Congress party, acting as the opposition in the BJP-led Madhya Pradesh government, maintained its protests at the state Assembly premises on the third consecutive day of the winter session on Wednesday. Congress MLAs showed up at the Assembly with tea kettles, claiming that the BJP administration has failed to meet its promise of creating two lakh jobs per year.

Leader of Opposition (LoP) Umang Singhar stated, “We have brought tea kettles to represent the struggles of Madhya Pradesh's youth, who are resorting to opening tea stalls under the BJP's rule. The BJP assured two lakh jobs annually during the elections, but has not delivered on this promise.”

In a further show of dissent, Congress MLA Mahesh Parmar from Tarana constituency in Ujjain arrived at the Assembly adorned with a garland crafted from liquor bottles. Security personnel prevented him from entering until he removed the garland. Parmar expressed his intention to wear it inside the House to shed light on the purported liquor scam in Madhya Pradesh.

Parmar brought up the issue during an 'attention motion' in the Assembly on Tuesday, alleging discrepancies in the state's liquor policy. He asserted that the scam could potentially reach Rs 5,000 crore and called for a comprehensive investigation.

Minister Vishwas Sarang criticized Congress' demonstration involving liquor bottles and mentioned that he would address the Speaker regarding potential repercussions for the Congress MLAs.

Meanwhile, Assembly Speaker Narendra Singh Tomar commenced discussions regarding the supplementary budget that was presented on Tuesday.

Madhya Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Jagdish Devda revealed the first supplementary budget for the ongoing fiscal year, totaling Rs 22,460 crore. Out of this, Rs 13,130 crore has been designated under the revenue head and Rs 9,329 crore under the capital head. Funds have been allocated for a variety of developmental projects across different departments.
