Patna, Oct 28 (NationPress) The Congress party voiced its strong disapproval on Tuesday against Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju for his disparaging remarks about RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav. Yadav had stated that he would discard the Waqf Amendment Act if the Mahagathbandhan were to assume power in Bihar.
In an interview with IANS on Monday, Rijiju criticized Yadav, labeling him as “immature” and accused him of making provocative statements to gain favor with the Muslim community ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections.
“What sort of language is he employing? Firstly, I believe Tejashwi lacks maturity and understanding. Secondly, he appears so desperate for power that he is willing to make any claim. Will he really suggest discarding the Waqf Act just to attract Muslim votes? How can he make such assertions?” Rijiju remarked.
These comments ignited a robust reaction from Congress leaders, who came to Yadav’s defense and questioned Rijiju’s qualifications to make such remarks.
Senior Congress leader Pawan Khera, speaking to IANS, stated, “Is he really mature? He can criticize others, but what about his own actions? He has found himself embroiled in numerous controversies. He has even admitted to consuming beef. Shouldn’t we question his maturity?”
Congress spokesperson Abhay Dubey also criticized Rijiju, questioning the government’s legislative actions.
“Is Kiren Rijiju truly a mature leader? If the Centre continues to implement laws against the public’s will, what does that signify about maturity? Can you tell me who you consulted before enacting those stringent agricultural laws?” Dubey remarked to IANS.
Defending Tejashwi Yadav, Dubey asserted, “Yadav is correct in stating that the Waqf should be discarded.”
Congress spokesperson Surendra Rajput also took a jab at Rijiju, claiming, “Statements from someone who consumes beef will have no impact on Bihar’s politics. Rijiju needs to understand this clearly. Individuals who eat beef should refrain from commenting on Bihar's political affairs.”
“The Supreme Court has already indicated that certain provisions of the Waqf Act need to be repealed. Rijiju should avoid making comments about Bihar, as the people here do not hold him in high regard due to his dietary choices,” he added.
