New Delhi, Nov 6 (NationPress) The Congress party has once again renewed its claims of electoral misconduct and “Vote Chori”. They plan to present a memorandum containing over 5 crore signatures to President Droupadi Murmu on November 8, advocating for immediate corrective measures.

K. C. Venugopal, the General Secretary of AICC, stated that more than 5 crore signatures have been gathered across the nation. This serves as a significant reflection of the anger, anxiety, and profound concern among citizens regarding the “blatant murder of democracy” through deceptive practices like duplicate voting, fraudulent voter entries, and misleading addresses in electoral rolls.

Emphasizing the party’s “Vote Chor Gaddi Chod” initiative, Venugopal noted that the signature campaign has led the public to make five clear and democratic demands from the Election Commission of India: Hold accountable those involved in systemic voter suppression; make a machine-readable voter list with photographs available for public review; publish all deletion and addition lists with images prior to each election; create a grievance redressal system for wrongful deletions; and set a clear cut-off date for changes to the voter list to prevent last-minute tampering.

The Congress General Secretary expressed that the party has consistently voiced concerns regarding electoral roll manipulation and extensive electoral fraud that threaten the integrity of the democratic process.

Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, has continually highlighted the perilous “vote chori” orchestrated by the BJP in conjunction with the Election Commission of India, which he describes as a direct attack on the people's mandate.

As part of the Congress’s nationwide movement to uphold democracy, the “Vote Chor Gaddi Chod” Signature Campaign has been launched, involving mass public outreach and door-to-door initiatives to rally citizens against electoral fraud, he stated.

Commencing on September 15, 2025, following the successful conclusion of the “Vote Chor Gaddi Chod” state-level rallies (August 22 – September 7), this campaign has witnessed participation from millions of citizens across various districts, blocks, and mandals, according to Venugopal.

Community leaders, professionals, and numerous citizens have united to voice their protest against the ongoing erosion of democratic norms, he added.

During a meeting of General Secretaries, In-Charges, and PCC Presidents on Wednesday, it was agreed that the first phase of the campaign will conclude with flag-off events at all State Headquarters on November 8.

These events will be attended by senior leaders and party officials, showcasing the collective unity and commitment of the Congress Party in this national effort to protect democracy, stated the Congress General Secretary.

After the conclusion of these events, all gathered signatures will be sent to the AICC Headquarters, and in the next phase, the Congress Party will continue to collect more signatures from citizens across India.

Ultimately, these signatures, representing millions of voices, will be presented to the President of India, demanding urgent corrective action.

Venugopal stated that the “Vote Chor Gaddi Chod” campaign transcends mere political movement; it is a citizens’ initiative calling for accountability, transparency, and the restoration of faith in the electoral process.

“The Congress Party stands united with the people of India in this collective endeavor to safeguard the essence of our democracy,” he affirmed.
