Consistent Healthcare Services Maintained During Winter in Kashmir

Srinagar, Dec 29 (NationPress) The Directorate of Health Services Kashmir has showcased its dedication to ensuring consistent healthcare services for patients, even amidst the challenging winter weather, according to an official announcement made on Saturday.
Healthcare facilities throughout the Kashmir division provided uninterrupted services, with over 23,782 patients visiting the Outpatient Departments (OPDs) and 1,019 admissions recorded.
In the realm of surgeries, a total of 40 major and 313 minor procedures were carried out successfully.
Maternal health services also functioned without disruption, with 37 normal deliveries and 39 lower-segment Caesarean sections performed.
Essential healthcare services, including dialysis sessions and diagnostic tests, continued without interruption.
A total of 14,541 laboratory tests were conducted, along with imaging services such as USG (852), X-ray (1,322), ECG (1,105), and CT scans (53) were efficiently performed.
Moreover, 62 patients requiring advanced medical intervention were referred to higher healthcare facilities.
In addition, divisional officers were assigned to various districts within the Kashmir division to evaluate the readiness and arrangements of health facilities in addressing challenges posed by the harsh weather.
"Dedicated control rooms at both divisional and district levels have been established for smooth healthcare services, taking into account the adverse weather conditions," the statement indicated.
"In the peripheral hospitals of Baramulla district, five cases of myocardial infarction were reported during the night of December 27 and 28. Despite the heavy snowfall, medical teams acted swiftly to diagnose, treat, and refer these patients to higher centers for advanced care. The prompt and skilled actions of the healthcare teams highlighted their readiness and commitment."
In Kulgam district, a medical team from D.H. Pora town successfully rescued an eight-month pregnant woman who was stranded due to snow-blocked roads in Dangerpora Chimmer, Khull.
The team utilized a 4×4 Scorpio ambulance designed for snow-covered terrain, ensuring the safe transport of the patient to Sub-District Hospital DH Pora. This rapid response ensured she received critical care without delay.
