Jammu & Kashmir Police Assist the Needy During Heavy Snowfall

Srinagar, Dec 28 (NationPress) The Jammu & Kashmir Police has stepped up to aid the public by evacuating critically ill patients and rescuing hundreds of stranded vehicles during the persistent snowfall throughout the Kashmir valley, as outlined in a police statement on Saturday.

In Anantnag, police received an urgent call regarding a vehicle carrying four tourists stuck in heavy snow while traveling from the National Highway through Dalwach to Dooru. A team from the Police Station Dooru swiftly responded and safely evacuated all four tourists to a secure location.

Additionally, police facilitated the emergency transport of a female patient from Bragam Dooru to the Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Dooru in a police vehicle, as she had recently undergone surgery and was experiencing severe pain requiring immediate medical care.

Upon receiving the distress call, the police acted promptly, arranging transportation and ensuring the patient reached the hospital without delay.

In Budgam, police rescued tourists stranded in Doodhpathri and assisted patients, commuters, and tourists who were stuck on various roads across the district, particularly in remote areas.

In Pulwama, a distress call indicated that a group of people along with a deceased person's body were stranded at Wahibugh while heading to Qazipora, Budgam. The police acted quickly, ensuring the deceased was carried on foot to Qazipora, allowing the family to perform final rites.

In another incident, early this morning, police rescued two women in need of urgent medical attention near Turkawagan Bridge. Defying adverse weather, police transported the patients to District Hospital Pulwama for necessary treatment.

In Ganderbal, police provided support to tourists, commuters, and patients stranded in the snow at various locations throughout the district.

In Awantipora, a distress call was received from Shahabad Awantipora, reporting a woman in critical need of medical attention. A special team led by the SHO of the police station promptly arrived and transported the patient to SDH Tral for treatment.

In Kulgam, police responded to a distress call from Adigam, Devsar, where a cardiac patient named Nawaz Ahmad Mallah had suffered a heart attack. His family was unable to reach the hospital due to continuous snowfall and treacherous roads. Acting swiftly, a special team from Police Station Devsar evacuated the cardiac patient for treatment.

Police in Baramulla initiated extensive emergency assistance operations throughout the district following heavy snowfall, which included rescuing stranded vehicles, providing mechanical aid, and helping install snow chains. Under the guidance of SSP Baramulla, police teams were strategically positioned along the Gulmarg-Tangmarg road axis and other critical areas to assist stranded travelers and tourists visiting Gulmarg.

Moreover, various teams have been formed and deployed across the districts of Kashmir valley to provide support to the public, especially in remote areas prone to heavy snowfall. The J&K Police has also established emergency help desks at key locations, offering shelter and transportation assistance to tourists.
