CM Omar Abdullah Oversees Restoration Efforts Post-Snowfall in Kashmir

Srinagar, Dec 29, (NationPress) In the wake of significant snowfall, J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah convened a virtual meeting on Sunday that included Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) and Deputy Commissioners (DCs) from the Kashmir division.
The meeting took place at the Raabita Public Outreach Office to evaluate the ongoing restoration efforts and to review critical services such as snow clearance, power and water supply, health facilities, and other essential services, according to an official statement.
During this meeting, MLAs from various parties commended the CM-led Administration for their prompt response to the snowfall, recognizing the Government's commitment during adverse weather conditions.
Initially, the Chief Minister requested feedback from the MLAs regarding the restoration activities in their respective constituencies.
Topics of discussion included snow clearance efforts, restoration of power and water supply, as well as the provision of other essential services and supplies.
The Chief Minister also engaged in individual discussions with the Deputy Commissioners from the Kashmir Valley and snow-affected regions of the Jammu Division.
The DCs shared updates on the current situation, outlining the steps taken to restore normalcy, especially in challenging weather scenarios.
In the meeting, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah urged officials to be attentive and responsive to public concerns, instructing them to pinpoint gaps in service delivery and to take swift corrective actions.
He highlighted the necessity to alleviate the difficulties faced by the general populace and commended the commitment of the Divisional Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, and other employees who have been laboring diligently in tough climatic conditions.
Looking forward, the Chief Minister called for improved readiness in anticipation of snowfall forecasts for the upcoming week.
He directed officials to refine action plans based on experiences learned from recent weather events.
The Chief Minister underscored the urgency of prioritizing snow clearance on link roads, inner lanes, and bylanes to guarantee accessibility for residents.
He instructed the Jal Shakti Department (PHE) to promptly tackle water supply issues and to enhance the deployment of water tankers to affected areas.
CM Omar Abdullah called on the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) and relevant departments to implement strategies to prevent waterlogging in low-lying regions.
Emphasizing the necessity for smooth traffic flow on the National Highway, the Chief Minister urged better coordination among the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), Traffic Police, and District Administrations.
The Chief Minister stressed the importance of ongoing monitoring and collaboration among various departments to prevent any inconvenience to the public.
