New Delhi, June 4 (NationPress) Remarks made by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann targeting the BJP regarding their presumed 'Ghar, Ghar Sindoor Abhiyan' have ignited a fierce response from various political figures, who have labeled his comments as shameful.
During his campaign for the bypolls in Ludhiana West, CM Mann accused the BJP of misusing revered Indian traditions for political gain.
Mann referenced reports indicating that BJP supporters were distributing vermilion (sindoor) to households following the success of the Indian Army's 'Operation Sindoor'. He provocatively questioned, "If sindoor is sent to your home, will you apply sindoor in Modi's name? Is 'One Nation, One Husband' your new initiative?"
He further charged the BJP with trivializing sindoor in their electoral pursuits.
BJP MP Sanjay Jaiswal dismissed Mann's comments as products of pure imagination. "There is no such initiative by the BJP. Bhagwant Mann has consistently acted like a political joker throughout his career, and it is incredibly shameful that he continues this behavior even as the Chief Minister of Punjab," Jaiswal asserted.
BJP MLA Ram Kadam voiced strong opposition, branding Mann's remarks as deeply hurtful.
“The valiant actions of our Indian Army in avenging the injustices inflicted by terrorists, who devastated our families, were acknowledged by the nation and the world. The operation was dubbed 'Operation Sindoor' because terrorists, backed by Pakistan, targeted the dignity of our mothers and sisters,” Kadam explained.
“What issue does the Opposition have with this?” he questioned.
Adding to the criticism, RLD MP Malook Nagar recounted Mann's alleged history of misconduct in Parliament.
“He often participated in sessions under the influence of alcohol, even facing penalties and suspension, yet he persisted. His comments suggesting that all daughters and sisters of the nation become someone's wife are disgraceful and deeply offensive... One must consider if this statement was made while he was intoxicated,” Nagar remarked.
