Couple in Mathura Achieves Their Dream of Homeownership Through PMAY

Mathura, Dec 5 (NationPress) The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), a prominent program initiated by the Central government, is designed to ensure affordable housing for everyone under the goal of 'Housing for All.'
This initiative was established to assist low-income families in achieving their aspiration of owning a durable home, significantly changing the lives of many, including Saraswati Dasi and her husband, Astik Das, who reside in Radhakund, Mathura. The couple expressed their gratitude towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi for this remarkable initiative.
For Saraswati and Astik, the program has resulted in a profound transformation as they now inhabit a pucca house.
Saraswati Dasi remarked, 'We are gaining substantial benefits from it. Previously, we had only one room, but now we have several. We lacked a kitchen, but now we have our own kitchen where we prepare our meals. This is truly a wonderful initiative for underprivileged individuals like us. PM Modi has accomplished an incredible feat.'
Astik Das added, 'We used to live in a rented space, which was quite challenging. Now, thanks to PMAY, we possess our own home. I wish that many more impoverished families like ours will take advantage of this program. I want to extend my thanks to PM Modi for this assistance.'
Another beneficiary, Krishna Gopal, conveyed his appreciation, stating, 'I am very pleased with this scheme. We have received a pucca (permanent) house. I hope that others in need will gain from it in the future.'
The PMAY was launched in 2015 with the initial aim of building two crore affordable homes by March 2022. However, acknowledging the persistent demand, the government has extended the scheme for an additional five years. Under PMAY, beneficiaries are provided with financial assistance of Rs 2.50 lakh, which is distributed in three installments. The first installment offers Rs 1 lakh, followed by Rs 1 lakh and Rs 50,000 in the subsequent stages.
The influence of the scheme is extensive, aiding millions in accessing improved living conditions and enhancing their quality of life. The government's initiative continues to address the housing requirements of the economically disadvantaged, making homeownership a tangible reality for countless underprivileged families across the nation.
