Latur, 7 April (NationPress) The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), an initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has emerged as a significant support system for numerous impoverished families in Latur, Maharashtra.
Under this program, many families have successfully acquired pucca homes, providing them with essential relief from the challenges posed by rainy weather.
Beneficiaries have shared their sincere appreciation to PM Modi for this life-changing scheme.
A local beneficiary woman recounted her journey with IANS, stating: “Previously, my house was quite small. I encountered considerable difficulties during the rainy season. However, with the benefits from the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, our residence has transformed into a pucca structure. I am profoundly thankful to PM Modi for this blessing.”
Another beneficiary, Venkat, expressed his joy, saying:
“Thanks to the PMAY, my house has been solidified. My previous dwelling was kutcha, but through the scheme, I received financial support of Rs 2.40 lakh, which enabled us to construct a permanent home. I wholeheartedly thank PM Modi,” he mentioned.
Jayant Dutta expressed, “Before I benefited from the PMAY, my house was made of mud. Now, thanks to the scheme, I have a pucca home, significantly enhancing my living conditions.”
Umesh Pathak commended the initiative, stating: “With the assistance of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, my kutcha house has been upgraded to a pucca one. We used to face numerous challenges during the rainy season, but now our family enjoys a secure home.”
Corporator Gopal Dhanure emphasized the scheme’s influence in Latur, noting that many impoverished families in the district have reaped the benefits of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
“Kutcha houses have been transformed into permanent residences, bringing happiness and security to these families. Everyone is thankful to PM Modi for this initiative,” stated Corporator Gopal Dhanure.
Initiated on June 25, 2015, PMAY is a national program aimed at delivering affordable housing for all, with a goal to construct 1.12 crore houses for eligible families in urban settings.
The scheme not only emphasizes house construction but also advocates empowerment, with many beneficiaries being women, single mothers, widows, and marginalized groups.
More than 2.67 lakh houses have been allocated specifically for women, and 90 homes have been designated for transgender individuals.
Recently, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) approved the construction of an additional 3.53 lakh houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban 2.0 (PMAY-U 2.0).
This expansion encompasses ten states and Union Territories, including Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh.
