New Delhi, April 23 (NationPress) The Congress party has convened an urgent meeting of the Congress Working Committee (CWC), its principal decision-making entity, for Thursday. This meeting comes in response to the shocking terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s (J&K) Pahalgam, which resulted in the loss of over two dozen innocent lives.
KC Venugopal, the General Secretary of Congress, announced the details of the CWC meeting via X, indicating it will occur at 24 Akbar Road, the former headquarters of the party.
A group of heavily-armed terrorists wreaked havoc in Pahalgam’s Baisaran meadows on Tuesday, opening fire on a crowd of tourists, resulting in the brutal deaths of 26 individuals and injuring many others.
Congress leaders, including Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi, have condemned this cowardly act of terrorism, labeling the attacks as "extremely condemnable and heartbreaking." They also voiced their support for the families of the slain tourists.
Congress leader KC Venugopal traveled to Srinagar this morning to pay respects to the victims of these horrific attacks.
While honoring the deceased, KC Venugopal stated, "We must stand united, not just in grief but also in our unwavering commitment against violence and terror."

Earlier, the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, remarked that the families of the victims deserve full justice and complete support.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge criticized the attacks, asserting, "The culprits of this atrocious act of terrorism must be brought to justice. The innocent victims deserve justice."
"Unity in action during challenging times is crucial. This cross-border terrorist attack should be met with a resolute and adequate response. The Government of India must engage with all political parties to ensure security in Jammu and Kashmir and make every possible endeavor to guarantee the safety of tourists in the region," he stated in a post on X.
