New Delhi, March 17 (NationPress) - In a significant operation, authorities have detained two suspected arms dealers in northeast Delhi, recovering three semi-automatic pistols and 25 live cartridges from their possession, according to police reports disclosed on Tuesday.
The arrests were executed by a specialized team from the North-East District’s Special Staff, following detailed intelligence about illegal arms distribution in the region.
Law enforcement officials stated that this team had been diligently collecting information on individuals engaged in the illicit trade of firearms and ammunition within the district.
Responding to a tip-off on March 12, a coordinated effort involving Sub-Inspector Pawan, Assistant Sub-Inspector Deepak, Head Constables Sushil and Vijay, along with Constable Paramjeet Singh, was organized under the guidance of Inspector Dheeraj Kumar, who oversees the Special Staff in the North-East District. They set a trap near Jheel Park located in the Welcome neighborhood.
During the operation, the team successfully apprehended Mohd. Suhail (20), who resides in New Seelampur, Delhi.
A preliminary search of the suspect resulted in the discovery of two semi-automatic pistols and 20 live cartridges.
In the aftermath of the recovery, a case was logged under FIR No. 98/2026, invoking Sections 25, 54, and 59 of the Arms Act at the Welcome police station, prompting further investigation.
Upon rigorous interrogation, Suhail reportedly admitted to his role in the unlawful arms supply network and disclosed information about another accomplice.
Utilizing this information, authorities later arrested a second suspect, identified as Asaan alias Ahsan (28), a resident of Mohalla Baradari in Khurja, Bulandshahr district, Uttar Pradesh.
Subsequent inquiries revealed that Ahsan had a prior record involving a case under the Arms Act, and police managed to recover an additional semi-automatic pistol along with five live cartridges based on his confessions.
Investigators are continuing their inquiries to trace the origins of the seized weapons and uncover potential connections to other participants in the illegal arms trade.
