New Delhi, March 29 (NationPress) - The Delhi Police have successfully apprehended a shooter associated with the notorious Rohit Godara-Goldy Brar-Virender Charan gang and seized a loaded semi-automatic pistol from his hideout in the capital, as reported by officials.

The individual in question has been identified as Deepak alias Dilawar. According to police reports, one loaded semi-automatic pistol was confiscated based on his information from his hideout situated in Sainik Vihar, Delhi.

A case has been filed under applicable sections of the Arms Act at the Special Cell police station related to this incident.

Officials noted that the Rohit Godara-Goldy Brar-Virender Charan gang has been implicated in numerous extortion attempts in recent months across Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Punjab, and other regions, raising alarms among law enforcement authorities.

In a notable case from December 2025, gangster Virender Charan reportedly demanded ₹10 crore from a jeweller based in Delhi.

As a result, a case was registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act at the Amar Colony police station in Delhi.

The investigation was subsequently handed over to the Special Cell’s NDR unit. During the inquiry, five individuals—identified as Rohit, Rahul, Laxman, Mohit alias Cherry, and Pankaj Rajput—were detained. Notably, Pankaj Rajput is a well-known gangster with over 20 criminal cases pending against him in Punjab.

During the interrogation of Pankaj Rajput and based on intelligence from human sources, investigators obtained a significant lead.

It was revealed that in 2025, Virender Charan had also solicited ₹5 crore from Manish Bakshi, the owner of Bakshi Travel Company in Nakodar, Punjab. A case was subsequently filed at the Nakodar City police station.

To intimidate the victim, Virender Charan allegedly directed three local associates to open fire at the Bakshi Travel office on January 13, 2026.

Upon further investigation, one of the shooters involved in the incident was identified as Deepak Kumar, 26, a resident of Unnao, Uttar Pradesh. Following the attack, Deepak had gone into hiding to avoid capture.

Officials stated that teams were organized, and informants were activated, leading to the deployment of two police teams to Punjab and Uttar Pradesh for intelligence gathering on the fugitive. After persistent efforts, the accused was tracked down and arrested in the Sainik Vihar area on March 23.

Upon his arrest, a loaded pistol and five live cartridges were recovered from his hideout based on his information. A new case under the Arms Act has been filed against him at the Special Cell police station.

During questioning, Deepak revealed that the illegal weapon had been supplied to him by Pankaj Rajput, who also introduced him to Virender Charan via an encrypted messaging platform.

He further disclosed that he had received direct orders from Virender Charan to execute the shooting at the Bakshi Travel office in Nakodar.

Additionally, the accused indicated plans to establish a base in Delhi under the directives of Virender Charan, pointing to the gang's intentions to broaden their operations in the capital.
