Delhi Assembly Elections: 1.55 Crore Voters Eligible, Vikaspuri Leads with 4.26 Lakh Electors

New Delhi, Jan 6 (NationPress) The finalized electoral roll in Delhi reveals that there are 1.55 crore electors, marking a 1.09 percent increase from the draft electoral roll published on October 29, 2024, according to the city's Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) on Monday.

The CEO mentioned in a statement that eight FIRs have been lodged against 24 individuals for presenting false or altered documents to acquire a voter ID.

On a day when the ruling Aam Aadmi Party accused of tampering, including unauthorized additions and deletions of names in the electoral roll for the New Delhi Assembly constituency, the CEO warned against submitting false and forged documents for obtaining new voter IDs.

The CEO highlighted Vikaspuri as the largest Assembly constituency, housing 4.62 lakh voters.

In contrast, Delhi Cantonment is noted as the smallest constituency with 78,893 voters.

The election office disclosed that there are 83,49,645 male voters, 71,73,952 female voters, and 1,261 voters belonging to the third gender in the city. When the draft roll was published on October 29, 2024, the voter count stood at 1.53 crore.

The CEO reported that the final roll indicates a reduction in the gender gap among voters by four points since the draft's publication.

An extraordinary number of 5.1 lakh Form-6 applications were submitted for new enrollment within the past 20 days, prompting Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) to conduct field verification and in-person hearings to confirm the authenticity of eligible applicants, as stated by the election office.

The Special Summary Revision of electoral rolls concerning the qualifying date of January 1, 2025, commenced across all 70 Assembly constituencies of the NCT of Delhi, with pre-revision activities beginning on August 20, 2024, according to the statement.

"Upon completing pre-revision activities, a draft electoral roll was published on October 10, 2024, inviting claims and objections from October 29, 2024, to November 28, 2024. The total number of electors at the time of draft publication was 1,53,57,529. Following the ECI guidelines, the draft electoral roll was also displayed at designated locations throughout Delhi," the statement concluded.
