Delhi Assembly Election Schedule: Voting on February 5, Results Announced for February 8

New Delhi, January 7 (NationPress) The Election Commission of India (ECI) revealed on Tuesday that February 5 will be the designated voting day for the 70-member Delhi Legislative Assembly. The announcement confirms that the results will be available on February 8.
The Gazette Notification will be issued on January 10. The final day for nominations is set for January 17, followed by the scrutiny of nominations on January 18, and January 20 as the last opportunity for candidates to withdraw their nominations.
The electoral process must be concluded by February 10.
During a press conference at the Vigyan Bhawan's Plenary Hall in the national capital, Chief Election Commissioner of India, Rajiv Kumar, along with Election Commissioners Gyanesh Kumar and Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu, provided these updates.
As stated by the CEC, Delhi comprises 70 constituencies — including 58 general and 12 SCs — spread across 11 districts. There are approximately 83.49 lakh male voters, 71.74 lakh female voters, and 25.89 lakh young voters, bringing the total voter count to 1.55 crore. The total number of polling stations established is 13,033, with 70 each designated for PwD and women-managed stations.
The CEC also highlighted the availability of the Saksham App for PwD voters, home voting options for senior citizens, and the CVIGIL system to address complaints.
The current legislative assembly's term will conclude on February 23, necessitating that the entire election process must be finalized before this date.
Earlier, the ECI published a newly updated voter list for Delhi. Recent statistics show that the voter base in Delhi has seen significant growth in the past two months.
As of October 2024, the number of voters was recorded at 1,53,57,529. Following a summary revision, this figure increased to 1,55,24,858, indicating an addition of 1,67,329 new electorates by December 2024. The Commission has issued a warning against the submission of false and fabricated documents for obtaining new voter ID cards.
