New Delhi, March 1 (NationPress) Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva on Saturday praised Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa for his declaration of a crackdown on polluting, outdated vehicles, labeling it a testament to the ruling party's determination to enhance the city's air quality.
Sachdeva noted that the decision to prohibit the sale of petrol to vehicles exceeding 15 years of age came after Sirsa's discussions with officials from the Environment Department and local authorities.
He pointed out that for the last decade, the BJP has been urging the Arvind Kejriwal administration to recognize that pollution control and environmental sustainability require ongoing, year-round initiatives. Unfortunately, the Kejriwal government has largely ignored these critical issues.
According to Sachdeva, the Kejriwal administration only addressed tree planting and pollution control when the situation was dire.
He recounted that the previous government held meetings on summer air pollution towards the end of April, planned tree sapling plantations by late June, and organized discussions on stubble burning pollution in late October, but such routine meetings have ceased under the AAP government.
The Delhi BJP President emphasized that, in contrast to the Kejriwal government, the Environment Minister Sirsa from the Rekha Gupta administration has initiated high-level meetings starting March 1 to combat pollution proactively.
Sirsa has showcased the BJP's dedication to fulfilling every commitment made in the Assembly election manifesto punctually, he stated.
Amidst the Opposition's calls to expedite the scheme providing Rs 2,500 monthly to women in Delhi, the Delhi BJP reiterated its commitment to fulfilling all electoral promises.
Insiders from the party revealed that financial aid is expected to start reaching women's bank accounts from March 8 – International Women’s Day, a commitment made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the Assembly election campaign.
On Saturday, there were rumors of a significant event being organized on March 8 at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium for the official launch of the scheme, anticipated to include 5,000 women.
