New Delhi, Feb 15 (NationPress) The Delhi BJP expressed its approval on Saturday regarding the CVC investigation initiated into the alleged misconduct surrounding the renovation of former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s official residence, known as 'Sheesh Mahal'. They asserted that the truth concerning his alleged corruption will now be unveiled to the public.

The party's newly-elected legislator from Rohini, Vijender Gupta, who previously held the position of Leader of the Opposition in the last Assembly, stated to IANS, “We consistently raised this issue before the elections, but the AAP chose to remain silent. They obstructed us from discussing it in the Assembly and misled the populace.”

Allegations of corruption during the renovation of Kejriwal’s official residence were pivotal to the BJP's election campaign, significantly contributing to their return to power in Delhi after a span of 27 years.

Gupta remarked, “The AAP attempted to conceal the 'Sheesh Mahal' scandal, but now the leaders will have to face consequences. Those who preached ‘kattar imandari’ (strict integrity) are in truth ‘kattar bhrashtachari’ (highly corrupt).”

“The facts will now be presented to the people,” Gupta added.

The President of Delhi BJP, Virendra Sachdeva, stated, “The misdeeds of the Delhi government will be revealed and those responsible will be held accountable.”

He further emphasized, “The clear message is that every penny looted will be reclaimed, and the corrupt will face justice, whether it involves Sheesh Mahal, liquor scams, DJB scams, DTC bus panic button scams, ration card scams, or Mohalla Clinic scams.”

The CVC's probe represents a new challenge for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and its National Convenor Kejriwal, who has remained out of the public eye since the party's defeat in the February 5 Assembly elections.

This investigation has also provided fresh ammunition for the opposing Congress party to target the AAP.

Congress leader and former Union minister Pawan Kumar Bansal commented to IANS, “There are numerous facets to this issue, but the investigation should be carried out independently, free from political interference.”

Bansal further stated, “A criminal case should be filed if any discrepancies are identified between the actual expenditures and the documented spending.”

The Chief Vigilance Commissioner (CVC) has instructed the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) to perform a thorough investigation into claims that construction regulations were breached while renovating and enlarging the mansion located at 6, Flagstaff Road, Civil Lines.

This colonial mansion and its gardens now span an area of 40,000 square yards (8 acres) in the affluent Civil Lines region of Delhi.

The CVC's directive for the investigation was issued on February 13, following a report from the CPWD concerning the contentious renovation and expansion of Kejriwal’s official residence.

The investigation follows increasing political pressure from the BJP. In the lead-up to the February 5 Delhi Assembly elections, Gupta had written to Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena, urging him to annul the merger of four government-owned properties with 6, Flagstaff Road.
