Residents Claim Kejriwal Has 'Devastated' Delhi Amid 'Sheesh Mahal' Controversy

New Delhi, Dec 10 (NationPress) Residents of Delhi have strongly condemned AAP national convenor and ex-Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal after the BJP unveiled a video of his former official residence, which the party labels as 'Sheesh Mahal'.

The uproar regarding the extravagant renovations of 'Sheesh Mahal' has escalated as Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva shared a video highlighting the lavish upgrades.

Sachdeva posted the video on social media platform X, accusing Kejriwal of indulging in luxury at the cost of taxpayers. He claimed that the AAP leader squandered Rs 45 crore on opulent renovations, including high-end fixtures and a spa-like area featuring a Rs 50-lakh jacuzzi, branding it a '7-star resort built with public funds.'

In conversations with IANS, Delhi locals shared their frustrations, criticizing Kejriwal for failing to uphold his promises of simplicity and transparency.

Dilip Kumar, a resident from Rohini, expressed, 'The Sheesh Mahal is the epitome of corruption. He used to claim he would travel in an autorickshaw and owned an old WagonR. Now, he's seen in cars worth Rs 50-60 lakh. The water supply is filthy and unpredictable. He promised to transform Delhi into New York, but instead, he has ruined it.'

Brijesh Mahajan, another resident, voiced his disappointment, saying, 'Kejriwal pledged to live as an ordinary citizen, yet he has only deceived Delhi. He merged four bungalows to create this Sheesh Mahal. We haven't seen a more misleading politician since independence.'

Another local from Rohini, Rahul Agarwal, pointed out Kejriwal's alleged duplicity, recalling, 'He swore on his children that he wouldn't ally with Congress but later did. If he can break promises to his own children, how can he serve the public?'

Sumit, another resident, remarked, 'Kejriwal is an educated thief. We believed in him because he appeared to be one of us. However, the Yamuna remains polluted, and he has solely blamed the central government for everything.'

Mahender, a North West Delhi resident, told IANS, 'This was public money that Kejriwal used to build his Sheesh Mahal. This is unjust; he acted wrongly. Had he utilized these funds for job creation, it would have been far more beneficial. I doubt people will support the AAP now.'

In Shastri Park, elderly women expressed their concerns about unfulfilled pension commitments, while others lamented about the dirty water and declining civic conditions. 'Kejriwal has devastated Delhi,' one resident commented.

The BJP's claims gained momentum as National Secretary Manjinder Singh Sirsa labeled the renovations 'the biggest evidence of Kejriwal's hypocrisy.'

He accused the former Chief Minister of projecting a public image of simplicity while indulging in luxury rivaling the affluent.

This controversy has reignited discussions on governance and accountability, with the BJP charging Kejriwal with neglecting crucial issues facing Delhi, such as water quality, pollution, and public welfare during his administration.

In the meantime, the BJP has ramped up its campaign, cautioning voters against what it describes as 'false promises and deceptive politics.'
