New Delhi, May 18 (NationPress) A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against the proprietor of the building that collapsed in the national capital, resulting in the loss of three lives.
The Delhi Police confirmed that the FIR was registered at Nabi Karim Police Station under applicable sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
During the incident, which occurred on Saturday evening in the Paharganj area, three individuals lost their lives and one was injured when an under-construction building collapsed.
As reported by officials, the collapse transpired near the Krishna Hotel on Ara Kansa Road, where a side wall of an under-construction basement gave way.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has mandated an investigation into the occurrence and promised strict measures against those responsible.
Expressing her sorrow over the fatalities, she stated: "May God grant peace to the departed souls and provide strength to the grieving families to endure this immeasurable loss."
The Chief Minister has directed officials to extend all necessary assistance to the families of the deceased and the injured.
In a statement on X, the Chief Minister's Office remarked: "An unfortunate basement wall collapse has been reported at an under-construction building in Paharganj, claiming three lives and leaving one seriously injured. Officials from the Central Delhi District Magistrate, Karol Bagh SDM, MCD, and the Delhi Police visited the site of the incident."
The Delhi Fire Service and NDRF teams conducted the rescue operations.
"The Central Delhi DM has been instructed to provide all necessary support to the next of kin of the deceased and the injured. Our thoughts are with the families affected," the post added.
Officials confirmed that two of the deceased were residents of Bihar and one from Uttar Pradesh.
The victims included Prabhu (65), Niranjan (40), and Roshan (35), while Chuttan (35) was hospitalized with injuries.
Prabhu was the contractor, whereas Niranjan and Roshan were his workers.
Earlier, on April 19, a building collapse in the Mustafabad region of Delhi resulted in 11 fatalities.
