New Delhi, Feb 20 (NationPress) BJP leader and MLA from Shalimar Bagh, Rekha Gupta, is poised to assume office as the new Chief Minister of Delhi. Alongside her, six newly appointed ministers will take their oaths today. After the swearing-in ceremony, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and her cabinet will head to Yamuna Ghat to evaluate the river's cleanliness.

This visit demonstrates the new Delhi government's determination to tackle the chronic issue of Yamuna pollution, a key concern during the recent Assembly elections.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which held power in Delhi for the last decade, had consistently pledged to cleanse the Yamuna but failed to fulfill this promise. The new BJP government is now prioritizing the cleanliness of the river.

The swearing-in event is taking place at Ramlila Maidan, with prominent BJP leaders in attendance. The ceremony will also welcome BJP workers, supporters, and the general public, showcasing the party’s extensive mobilization.

Three stages have been constructed at the site for the ceremony.

Prior to her oath-taking, Rekha Gupta highlighted her commitment to transparency and accountability.

“Every penny of public funds will be monitored. We will adhere to the Prime Minister’s vision and combat corruption in Delhi vigorously,” she stated.

BJP leader Kapil Mishra echoed that the new government will collaboratively work to implement Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for Delhi.

Rekha Gupta will become the fourth female Chief Minister of Delhi and the second woman from the BJP to hold this position, following Sushma Swaraj, who briefly served in 1998.

With the BJP regaining power in Delhi after a significant interval, her appointment signifies a considerable political transition in the capital.

A seasoned politician, Rekha Gupta has a robust political history. She has been a leader at Delhi University, holding roles as General Secretary and President of the Delhi University Students’ Union.

She possesses a B. Com and LLB degree from Delhi University and has been deeply involved in Delhi’s civic and political landscape for years.
