New Delhi, Aug 12 (NationPress) As part of the launch of the NDMC’s Tiranga Yatra, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta urged citizens to embrace their national duties and civic responsibilities in celebration of the Independence Festival.

“True respect for the heroes of our independence is not solely in formal tributes but in our commitment to being responsible citizens,” she stated during the grand Tiranga Yatra organized by the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) in Connaught Place, which saw an enthusiastic turnout of 5,000 students from NDMC’s Atal Adarsh and Navyug Schools.

She emphasized, “Our rights and freedoms thrive when we uphold our responsibilities, such as maintaining clean surroundings, safeguarding our rivers from pollution, conserving electricity and water, and protecting our environment.”

Reiterating the vision for a Viksit Bharat (Developed India), she called on every resident of Delhi to pledge to transform the city into the most beautiful capital globally.

She highlighted that these seemingly small yet crucial actions are the bedrock of a robust, clean, and sustainable future.

“This is our Delhi, our pride, and our obligation. Let us carry this spirit beyond Independence Day and collaborate to make our city a national model,” she remarked.

As the nation revels in the colorful festivities of Independence Day, with the Tricolour proudly displayed throughout the streets and skyline, the NDMC participated in honoring the countless martyrs and courageous soldiers whose sacrifices have preserved India’s freedom.

The Yatra began at the Janpath Radial Circle in the Inner Circle of Connaught Place, infusing the area with the vibrant colors of the Tricolour and a spirit of patriotism.

Notable attendees included Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma, NDMC Chairman Keshav Chandra, Vice-Chairman Kuljeet Singh Chahal, and Council Members Anil Valmiki and Dinesh Partap Singh.

The parade wound through the Inner Circle, Connaught Place, with thousands of students, teachers, parents, NDMC officials, and citizens waving the National Flag.

Besides the Yatra, students participated in Tiranga Tribute, patriotic song performances, and human chain formations, each activity echoing the theme of the National Flag and the spirit of unity.

On August 8, the Central Government unveiled the fourth edition of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, scheduled from August 9 to August 15.

This year, India celebrates its 79th Independence Day, a moment to not only rejoice in freedom but also honor the immense sacrifices made by countless freedom fighters.

The Har Ghar Tiranga campaign serves as a unifying force, reminding every citizen of the sacrifices that earned us independence and inspiring us to safeguard, develop, and advance our nation.

Bringing the Tricolour into every home symbolizes pride, unity, and love for our country, stated an NDMC official.
