New Delhi, July 20 (NationPress) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has highlighted the significance of fostering and enhancing the art and culture of various states within the national capital, as stated by an official on Sunday.
She has proposed organizing events like women's art exhibitions, artist camps, music and dance festivals, theatre performances, and religious festivities such as Chhath Puja and Durga Puja throughout the city to boost public engagement.
The Chief Minister further mentioned that initiatives will be taken to introduce non-Hindi languages to children in Delhi, helping them grasp the social and cultural identities of other states.
In a recent meeting at the Delhi Secretariat, CM Gupta deliberated on strategies to enrich Delhi’s cultural scene and ensure involvement from all community segments in cultural activities.
“Delhi is not just our capital but a mirror of the nation's cultural identity,” she asserted.
“We aim for the art and culture of diverse states to permeate every street, allowing every individual to connect with it,” she continued, emphasizing that theatre and folk arts serve as effective mediums for raising awareness and disseminating information.
The meeting also saw the presence of Minister of Art, Culture and Languages Kapil Mishra, along with various secretaries, deputy secretaries, and senior officials from multiple agencies.
CM Gupta pointed out that the Department of Art, Culture and Languages can significantly contribute to this mission by broadening its program scope.
According to her, the department should extend its initiatives beyond traditional venues and engage the general public to enhance participation.
She instructed officials to ensure that regional festivals in Delhi feature artists from their respective states, as this would heighten public interest in these celebrations.
The Chief Minister acknowledged that while the Department of Art, Culture and Languages has historically promoted Delhi’s cultural heritage, its outreach must now expand.
Recognizing Delhi's diverse population, she stressed the rising trend of celebrating regional festivals and directed officials to involve artists from various states in these activities.
