New Delhi, Dec 29 (NationPress) The Delhi Art and Culture Minister, Kapil Mishra, announced on Monday that a collaboration between the Department and a publishing firm will lead to the launch of the nation’s largest literary and cultural festival, Delhi Shabdotsav, set to take place on January 2, 3, and 4 at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium.
“The Delhi Government is spearheading the formation of the country's most significant cultural and literary festival on January 2, 3, and 4. This event will henceforth be an annual occurrence under the Ministry of Culture and will be known as the 'Delhi Shabdotsav',” Mishra shared with reporters.
The festival is expected to showcase over 100 notable speakers, such as Ajit Doval, Sunil Ambekar, Manmohan Vaidya, and Sachchidanand Joshi. Additionally, there will be more than 40 book launches, six cultural performances, and two poetry gatherings.
“Students from approximately 40 universities across the Delhi NCR region will also take part in this cultural celebration,” he mentioned.
Mishra highlighted that attendees can expect a variety of programs including Bharatnatyam, Kathak, Bhajan Sandhya, Kavi Sammelan, and Somnath Jyotirlinga Darshan.
The festival will be inaugurated by Delhi Chief Minister M Rekha Gupta, with Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami and Chhattisgarh Home Minister Vijay Sharma also in attendance.
Mishra stated that CM Gupta has instructed the development of this annual event into a major brand, aiming to attract global participants.
Rajiv Tuli, a member of the organizing committee, mentioned that the festival will feature six musical bands promoting Indian cultural and spiritual renewal.
“One of the key goals of this event is to decolonize the mindset and energy of the nation’s Gen Z,” he explained, emphasizing the involvement of students from 40 universities in the festival.
A similar event has been hosted in Kashi over the past three years, and this Delhi festival is inspired by that model.
The organizers also plan to host a food festival showcasing Delhi’s culinary delights.
Entry to the festival will be free; however, visitors are encouraged to register via QR codes for a smoother entry process.
“We have appointed campus ambassadors in colleges across Delhi University, and a comprehensive outreach campaign via social media is also underway,” he concluded.
