New Delhi, May 17 (NationPress) Chief Minister Rekha Gupta declared on Saturday the revival of a grant initiative aimed at senior citizens and their organizations, criticizing the former AAP administration for halting financial support for the elderly.
She further criticized the AAP government for leaving her administration with a financial burden of crores of rupees, which her team is trying to resolve even after three months in office.
While addressing an event in her Shalimar Bagh constituency, the CM remarked, "The preceding AAP government falsely promised senior citizens that grants would be issued, which had been stalled for five years. Upon reviewing the files, we discovered that they had entirely discontinued the program."
"Our government has now taken steps to revive the scheme," the CM assured, pledging to operate with transparency.
She emphasized her government's dedication to comprehensive development, ensuring essential services like clean drinking water and accessible healthcare.
The CM also visited Sanjay Gandhi Hospital in Mangolpuri to evaluate public health services and oversee the progress of the new building.
She stated that the Delhi government would not allow financial obstacles to hinder the completion of the hospital's construction or the availability of medicines.
Accompanied by BJP MP Yogender Chandolia, the CM interacted with patients and inspected various hospital departments to assess facilities and current medical services.
Earlier, CM Gupta launched a new water pipeline project in the Pitampura area, as part of her ongoing initiative to enhance essential infrastructure in the Shalimar Bagh Assembly constituency.
This project, which involves laying a new pipeline from the Delhi Jal Board office in Singalpur to CA Block's Shiv Murti Chowk, aims to improve water supply and address long-standing issues faced by residents.
During the inauguration, CM Gupta recognized the challenges posed by the aging water pipe infrastructure.
"Residents have been experiencing ongoing issues due to the old pipeline system, leading to inconsistent and insufficient supply," she stated.
