Synopsis
Key Takeaways
On March 3, 2026, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta officially opened the four-day 'Flower Festival 2026', hosted by the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) at Central Park in Connaught Place.
Speaking to the attendees, the Chief Minister emphasized that as the capital of India, it is a shared duty to transform Delhi into a cleaner, greener, and more appealing city.
She noted that in the past, residents traveled to Kashmir to see tulips, but now, thanks to the diligent work of the NDMC, vibrant tulips and an assortment of flowers can be enjoyed right in the heart of the capital.
Describing the event as a 'Selfie Festival', the Chief Minister highlighted its popularity among the public.
She invited families to attend the free festival and to join in the unified effort to maintain Delhi’s cleanliness, greenery, and beauty.
Over 15,500 potted plants, showcasing 48 different varieties, have been arranged in 18 themed sections.
Key attractions include seasonal blooms like dahlias, petunias, pansies, salvias, and marigolds.
Notable figures present at the event included NDMC Chairman Keshav Chandra, Vice-Chairman Kuljeet Singh Chahal, and other esteemed guests.
The Chief Minister remarked that holding the festival during the month of Phalguna has brought an array of colors and fragrances to the capital.
She commended the gardeners and officials from the NDMC's Horticulture Department for their relentless efforts in crafting this floral wonderland.
She further encouraged other departments to take cues from such initiatives to elevate Delhi’s greenery and aesthetic charm.
Praising the floral displays, pyramid structures, and various arrangements, the Chief Minister expressed optimism that with continued efforts, the entire city could be adorned with flowers.
The exhibition features tray gardens, landscape gardens, large hanging baskets, terrariums, both Eastern and Western floral arrangements (including Ikebana), floral figures designed as animals and birds, colorful floral boards, and specially crafted pyramid, heart-shaped, conical, and cylindrical floral structures that serve as selfie spots.
The festival is accessible to the public from March 3 to March 6, with free entry.
Additionally, stalls are available selling nursery plants, bonsai, cacti, succulents, herbal plants, hydroponic systems, gardening tools, seeds, pots, fertilizers, and decorative items.
