New Delhi, Oct 13 (NationPress) Delhi's Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has established a committee led by Art and Culture Minister Kapil Mishra, tasked with selecting venues and managing preparations for Chhath Puja 2025, according to an official announcement made on Monday.

The committee's role will include identifying appropriate locations for the Chhath Puja celebrations throughout various parts of the national capital and reviewing essential arrangements concerning amenities, safety, sanitation, transportation, and overall convenience for devotees before presenting its findings to the government, as stated in an order from the Divisional Commissioner’s office.

Additionally, four members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) have been appointed to the committee: Abhay Kumar Verma (MLA, Laxmi Nagar), Chandan Kumar Chaudhary (MLA, Sangam Vihar), Sandeep Sehrawat (MLA, Matiyala), and Deepak Chaudhary (MLA, Badli).

Upon his appointment as the committee's chairman, Mishra remarked, “Chhath Puja is not only a cultural hallmark of Purvanchal but also of Delhi. It represents our shared faith and unity.”

He continued, “Sadly, past administrations neglected the faith of millions of devotees. This time, however, the Delhi government aims to ensure that every devotee can perform their rituals in a safe and respectful environment. We are committed to providing the best possible arrangements for cleanliness, safety, traffic management, lighting, and medical support at all ghats.”

Mishra encouraged all devotees and residents of Delhi to join the celebrations with enthusiasm and discipline, urging them to assist the administration in maintaining cleanliness and order.

“Just as I successfully supervised the Kanwar Yatra during Sawan, I consider it an honor to oversee this event as well. This year, Chhath Puja will be celebrated on an even grander scale. Previous governments failed the devotees of Chhathi Maiya, but we will transform the spirit and scale of this festival completely,” he stated.

The Minister indicated that with the significant Purvanchali population in Delhi, the government's objective is to ensure that Chhath Puja is celebrated in a manner that is safe, clean, and well-organized.

This year, the festival is scheduled to take place at around one thousand venues across the city, which will encompass locations along the Yamuna riverbanks, the Munak Canal, and various artificial ponds. The government has instructed all departments to guarantee cleanliness, water sprinkling, safety measures, and improved traffic management at all sites, he noted.

Medical facilities and special lighting arrangements will also be made available for devotees. The Irrigation Department has been assigned the task of removing water hyacinth from the Yamuna to ensure clean water for the rituals.
