New Delhi, Jan 14 (NationPress) Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and former Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal, stated on Tuesday that this election may unveil the "covert alliance" between BJP and Congress.

Kejriwal took to the social media platform X to respond to criticisms from both parties.

Reposting a tweet from Amit Malviya, who oversees BJP's National Information & Technology Department, Kejriwal remarked in Hindi, "...I only mentioned one line about Rahul Gandhi, and the BJP is reacting. This shows how threatened they feel. This Delhi election might just reveal the jugalbandi (collusion) that has secretly existed between Congress and BJP for many years..."

The situation escalated on Monday when Congress leader Rahul Gandhi held a rally in Seelampur, Delhi, criticizing both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Kejriwal for making empty promises. He asserted that there is no real distinction between the two leaders and accused them of neglecting the rights of the backward classes, Dalits, tribals, and minorities.

Gandhi lauded the achievements of the Sheila Dikshit administration, claiming that neither Kejriwal nor BJP could compare to Congress's record.

He later tweeted, "Just as Modi Ji makes false promises and spreads propaganda, Kejriwal Ji follows the same pattern - there’s no difference!"

Immediately after Gandhi's rally, Kejriwal commented on social media, stating, "Rahul Gandhi came to Delhi today and insulted me greatly. However, I will refrain from commenting on his remarks. His mission is to protect Congress, while my mission is to protect the nation."

This was followed by Amit Malviya, who advised Kejriwal to focus on his constituency in the upcoming elections, saying, "Focus on your New Delhi seat first, worry about the country later."

With Rahul Gandhi's rally, Congress has initiated its campaign vigorously in the national capital. The AAP and Congress, who were allies in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, are now contesting separately in the Delhi Assembly elections. Their previous partnership in the Lok Sabha resulted in a loss, with BJP winning all seven seats.

As the Delhi Assembly elections approach, the three primary contenders - AAP, BJP, and Congress - are embroiled in intense political disputes, addressing issues concerning corruption and various welfare schemes like free water, electricity, education, healthcare, and public transportation.
