Delhi Expected to Experience Colder Weather as IMD Forecasts Temperature Drop of 3-4 Degrees Celsius

New Delhi, Dec 29 (NationPress) The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced that dense to very dense fog is expected in northwestern India, coupled with a temperature drop in multiple northern states, including Delhi, by around 3-4 degrees Celsius.

The IMD, in its statement, has predicted "dense to very dense fog over northwest India during the next two to three days, while cold wave conditions are anticipated to start over parts of northwest India from December 30."

Furthermore, the IMD forecasts that minimum temperatures may decline by 4-6 degrees Celsius in Uttar Pradesh during the next five days and by 3-4 degrees Celsius in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Rajasthan over the next three days.

However, the IMD notes that there will be no significant change in minimum temperatures within the next 24 hours.

Additionally, the IMD indicated a potential decrease of 3-5 degrees Celsius in central India over the next five days.

"No significant change in minimum temperatures over the next 24 hours and a drop of 3-4 degrees Celsius is expected in East India over the subsequent three days. A decrease of 2-4 degrees Celsius is anticipated in Maharashtra over the next five days," the IMD statement elaborated.

Moreover, the weather office advised that cold wave conditions are very likely in isolated areas of Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh from December 31 to January 2, and in Rajasthan from December 30 to January 2.

"Dense fog conditions are very likely to persist during late night and early morning hours in isolated pockets of Himachal Pradesh from December 29 to January 1; Uttar Pradesh from December 29 to December 30; Rajasthan on December 30 to 31, and

in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura until January 2," the statement further noted.

The IMD also reported: "Minimum temperatures were recorded below 0 degrees Celsius in many areas of Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh; 6-12 degrees Celsius in many regions of northwest India; and 12-18 degrees Celsius in various parts of central, western, and eastern India. Today, the lowest minimum temperature of 5.7 degrees Celsius was reported in Sikar (Rajasthan) on the plains of the country.

"A drop in the minimum temperature by 1-3 degrees Celsius has been observed in many areas of Uttar Pradesh, East Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and in some regions of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, and West Rajasthan; with a decrease of 3-6 degrees Celsius over many parts of East Rajasthan and in isolated regions of Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh and Punjab in the past 24 hours, along with a rise of 1-2 degrees Celsius in some areas of East India.
