New Delhi, March 20 (NationPress) Delhi Health Minister Pankaj Singh alleged on Thursday that the health system in the national capital has collapsed under the previous administration and promised that those accountable will face consequences.
During an interview with IANS on World Oral Health Day, Minister Singh, also a qualified doctor, discussed various topics including his government’s initiatives to enhance the health infrastructure, issues of corruption during COVID-19, and the status of mohalla clinics.
He highlighted the widespread issues of dental hygiene in Delhi, announcing the launch of six dental vans on Thursday, with an additional ten planned for the near future.
Emphasizing the significance of dental health, the Minister remarked that a healthy gut stems from proper chewing of food.
Outlining his goals for the initial 100 days of the BJP administration in Delhi, he stated: “We intend to ensure every doctor in hospitals is dedicated to their role.”
He further noted that all medical disciplines—allopathic, ayurvedic, and homeopathic—will collaborate effectively.
Regarding corruption in the Delhi Health Department during the pandemic, the Minister reiterated in the Assembly that Rs 700 crore had been “siphoned off”.
“There was a lack of oxygen in Delhi hospitals while others were preoccupied with constructing Sheesh Mahal,” he charged.
On the irregularities found in mohalla clinics, the Minister stated that multiple pieces of evidence have emerged, but until the inquiry concludes, he will refrain from further comments.
“We are focused on enhancing the health sector, and those involved in corruption will not be exempted,” he told IANS.
Minister Singh remarked, “During Satyendar Jain’s term, the health system in Delhi deteriorated significantly. I can only comment about his performance.”
While pledging advancements in the health sector, the Minister assured that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he and his fellow ministers are committed to delivering effective work that will become apparent in the first 100 days.
