New Delhi, April 16 (NationPress) - On Thursday, Delhi's Lieutenant Governor T.S. Sandhu conducted a review of the Delhi Fire Service’s Summer Action Plan, emphasizing the need for modernization, infrastructure enhancements, and strengthening personnel capabilities to improve emergency response.

He also scrutinized the Department’s Summer Action Plan, urging for increased vigilance in light of the soaring temperatures.

Sandhu expressed on X, “To risk one’s life in the line of duty so that others may live, this is the essence of real courage. During Fire Service Week, I had the privilege of joining the officers of the Delhi Fire Service for the ceremonial flag pinning, reaffirming our collective commitment: ‘We Serve to Save’.”

This year’s theme serves as a poignant reminder that fire safety is a shared responsibility. Together, let’s work towards creating a safer Delhi, he urged.

“While reviewing the proposed amendments to the Delhi Fire Service Rules, 2010, he underscored the necessity of broad consultations with residents, businesses, and traders to ensure the framework is inclusive, practical, and effective,” he added.

“In alignment with the vision of Hon’ble PM @narendramodi ji, every regulatory framework must foster ‘Ease of Living’ and ‘Ease of Doing Business’ — ensuring robust fire safety without imposing unnecessary barriers on citizens,” he wrote.

“With the escalating summer temperatures, the Department also revisited its Summer Action Plan and emphasized the importance of a comprehensive public awareness initiative to educate citizens on preventive measures, regulatory safeguards, and effective emergency response strategies,” noted the LG.

Subsequently, Sandhu visited DDA’s Swabhiman Apartments in Jailorwala Bagh, Ashok Vihar today — a flagship project aimed at realizing PM Shri @narendramodi Ji’s vision of “Jahan Jhuggi, Wahin Makan.”

In a message on X, he remarked, “These modern pucca multi-storey homes with ownership rights represent a significant advancement towards ensuring dignity, security, and pride for the most marginalized members of society. This is truly a landmark initiative with the potential for nationwide replication.”

In the spirit of citizen-centric governance, I interacted with residents who expressed their gratitude to the Hon’ble Prime Minister for these homes. They also raised concerns regarding seepage, garbage mismanagement, irregular lift operations in some towers, and disturbances caused by miscreants.

The LG stated he has issued clear instructions to DDA officials, the District Administration, and the Delhi Police to prioritize these issues and ensure a safe, clean, and well-maintained environment.
