New Delhi, March 12 (NationPress) On Thursday, the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, T.S. Sandhu, engaged in discussions with Lok Sabha Members of Parliament regarding strategies to accelerate development and welfare projects in the national capital.

In a post on X, Sandhu expressed: “It was a pleasure to convene with the Hon’ble Members of Parliament representing Delhi in the Lok Sabha, including Shri @ManojTiwariMP, Shri @RamvirBidhuri, Smt @kjsehrawat, Shri @yogenderchando1, Shri @PKhandelwal_MP, and Ms @BansuriSwaraj today. Our dialogue was constructive, focusing on the advancement of the National Capital.”

The previous day, Sandhu was sworn in as the 23rd Lieutenant Governor of Delhi during a ceremony at Raj Niwas, succeeding Vinai Kumar Saxena.

The oath was administered by Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya, the Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court, with the presence of Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, senior officials, and other dignitaries.

Sandhu takes over from Saxena, who has now been appointed as the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh.

A seasoned 1988-batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer, Sandhu possesses extensive diplomatic experience, particularly in the context of India’s relations with the United States.

From February 2020 to January 2024, he served as India’s Ambassador to the United States, a tenure characterized by the enhancement of strategic and economic relations between the two nations.

During his time in Washington, he was instrumental in bolstering bilateral cooperation in defense, technology, and trade.

Before his ambassadorship, Sandhu held various key diplomatic positions. He has had multiple assignments at the Embassy of India in Washington, D.C., establishing him as one of the most knowledgeable Indian diplomats in U.S. affairs.

Additionally, he worked at the Permanent Mission of India to the United Nations in New York from July 2005 to February 2009, where he focused on multilateral diplomacy and global policy matters.
