New Delhi, March 28 (NationPress) Following the passage of the Budget 2026-27 by the Delhi Assembly, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta met with Lieutenant Governor T.S. Sandhu on Saturday to address pivotal development and infrastructure concerns.

On a social media platform X, the Chief Minister stated, "I had a cordial meeting with Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu Ji. During our discussion, we focused on Delhi's growth, public welfare, and future initiatives."

Chief Minister Gupta emphasized that this year's Green Budget embodies this vision, prioritizing infrastructure, environmental sustainability, and enhancing citizens' quality of life. "Our collective aim is to transform Delhi into a developed city," she added, sharing images from the meeting.

The meeting occurred a day after T.S. Sandhu's engagement with Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

In her remarks on the Budget, Chief Minister Gupta highlighted, "Delhi has been hindered in the past; however, we are now advancing with a renewed governance strategy. This marks the beginning of a transformation era instead of conflict—it's about performance, not politics."

Commenting on the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party's commitment, she noted, "Some adapt to the changing times, some evolve with them, while others redefine the era itself."

Chief Minister Gupta further mentioned that the Delhi government has commenced clearing longstanding dues, including payments for athletes, welfare for economically disadvantaged sections, scholarships, awards, and the Kishori scheme. Payments of ₹114 crore for SC, ST, and OBC students, and ₹538 crore for Delhi government colleges have been disbursed.

She also raised concerns about irregularities in public works projects under the previous Aam Aadmi Party administration, citing an example where ₹250 crore was disbursed without completion of any work, raising significant doubts about the previous government's operations.

Chief Minister Gupta criticized the financial legacy left by the earlier AAP government, which has burdened the current BJP administration with substantial debt. "Every rupee will be accounted for, and every project will be delivered," she declared, referring to the ₹47,000 crore debt inherited from the AAP.
