New Delhi, Feb 27 (NationPress) With International Women’s Day on the horizon, celebrated on March 8, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is preparing to appreciate its female commuters through a variety of engaging events aimed at celebrating and empowering them.
This initiative, introduced in advance of the worldwide celebration, aims to improve the commuting experience for women while acknowledging their essential contributions to the metro system.
To involve women in enjoyable and creative activities, DMRC is hosting an on-the-spot pebble art session and a Sudoku competition at major metro stations throughout the city. These competitions will be held at key metro stations, including Rajiv Chowk, Vishwavidyalaya, and Dilli Haat-INA.
The pebble art activity will give female participants a chance to express their creativity and craft unique pieces using natural pebbles, while the Sudoku competition will challenge them to showcase their problem-solving abilities.
These events are scheduled at the following stations:
Rajiv Chowk Metro Station on February 28 from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm
Vishwavidyalaya Metro Station on March 3 from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm
Dilli Haat-INA Metro Station on March 4 from 10:30 am to 12:20 pm
In addition, DMRC is organizing an online quiz competition, available daily from February 28 to March 4 on its official social media platform, X (@OfficialDMRC).
The quiz provides women commuters daily chances to participate, with a special award for the first female commuter to answer correctly each day.
The DMRC will also display selected pebble artworks created by female commuters and DMRC staff at various metro locations. These artistic creations will be exhibited prominently.
The results of the competitions, encompassing the Sudoku challenge and the online quiz, will be revealed on March 5, 2025, via the DMRC’s official website and social media channels. Winners will receive certificates of appreciation along with a suitable prize.
The theme for this year’s International Women’s Day, “Count Her In: Invest in Women, Accelerate Progress”, aligns seamlessly with DMRC’s mission to celebrate women and their crucial role in the development and success of the Delhi Metro system.
Women commuters constitute a significant percentage of the metro’s ridership, and DMRC has consistently aimed to provide a safe, comfortable, and hassle-free journey for them. The implementation of dedicated women’s coaches and reserved seats in every metro coach exemplifies how DMRC prioritizes the comfort and safety of its female passengers.
