Delhi Vivek Vihar fire: 9 killed, CM Rekha Gupta assures aid

A devastating fire tore through a four-storey building in Vivek Vihar, Delhi in the early hours of Sunday, 3 May, killing nine people — including a toddler — and injuring several others. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta expressed deep distress over the tragedy and assured that every possible assistance is being extended to the affected families.

How the Fire Unfolded

The blaze broke out on the second floor of premises at B-13, Vivek Vihar Phase I at approximately 4 am IST. Authorities dispatched 14 fire engines to the scene within minutes. By 6 am, the fire had been brought under control, according to officials.

During rescue operations, 15 persons were evacuated from the building. Of these, two sustained minor injuries and were shifted to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital for medical treatment. The remaining injured were taken to a nearby hospital. A preliminary enquiry confirmed nine fatalities, with further investigation ongoing at the site.
