New Delhi, Aug 6 (NationPress) The Anti Auto Theft Squad (AATS) of the Delhi Police has successfully captured an individual implicated in the chain snatching incident involving Congress MP R. Sudha Ramakrishnan in the Chanakyapuri locality of the national capital.
The AATS retrieved a gold chain weighing 30.90 grams (taken from the victim), along with two stolen scooters and four mobile phones from the suspect's possession.
Following the complaint, law enforcement undertook an extensive analysis of CCTV footage from the route of the incident, obtained insights via local intelligence, and employed technical surveillance to monitor the suspect's movements and identify him.
After a comprehensive investigation, the perpetrator was identified and arrested.
The accused has been identified as Sohan Rawat, also known as Sonu, residing in the Okhla Industrial Area, as per police reports.
At just 24 years old, Sonu is described as a notorious habitual offender, with 26 previous engagements across various Delhi police stations. Notably, he had been released from prison only on June 27.
The police detailed that the accused has been associated with numerous cases filed under IPC sections 356, 379, 392, 411, 34, along with violations of the Arms Act and BNS provisions across multiple jurisdictions including Amar Colony, Sunlight Colony, R.K. Puram, Lajpat Nagar, Inder Puri, Kalkaji, Hauz Khas, Mandawli, Fatehpur Beri, Defence Colony, Ambedkar Nagar, Naraina, Saket, and more.
Authorities have stated that the accused is currently undergoing further questioning to determine his involvement in additional recent snatching and vehicle theft incidents.
