New Delhi, Dec 4 (NationPress) The Delhi Police apprehended a 33-year-old individual along with 71 boxes of illegal country-made beer, which was meant for exclusive sale in Haryana.

The suspect, known as Bijender and hailing from the Jhajjar district of Haryana, was caught while transporting liquor designated for sale in Haryana. His arrest occurred during a night patrol on Tuesday, as reported by the Delhi Police on Thursday.

According to the Delhi Police, a team from the Special Staff, including HC Biran Yadav, HC Nikhil, and Constable Sarvesh, was on patrol at Vandematram Marg around 9:40 PM on Tuesday when they observed a mini truck being driven recklessly near the Shankar Road roundabout, heading towards Hanuman Murti.

When the officers signaled for the driver to halt, he allegedly tried to speed away. However, after a brief chase, the team was able to intercept the vehicle.

The police stated, "As the team approached the vehicle and commanded the driver to stop, he attempted to accelerate away. Nevertheless, the team successfully overtook the vehicle and apprehended the suspect."

A search of the mini truck resulted in the discovery of 71 boxes of country-made beer, totaling 2,826 quarters and 168 full bottles, all marked "For sale in Haryana only."

The police indicated that the liquor was being transported unlawfully into Delhi, in violation of the Delhi Excise Act.

A case has been registered against him under FIR No. 120/25, dated 03.12.2025, under sections 33/58 of the Delhi Excise Act at Mandir Marg Police Station, New Delhi District.

Officials noted that he has four prior incidents involving similar offenses recorded in Delhi.
