New Delhi, April 2 (NationPress) – The Central District Police of Delhi has made significant strides in combating the drug trade, apprehending two individuals with 1.56 kg of ganja in the Patel Nagar area on Thursday. This operation dismantled a local supply chain, capturing both the dealer and the supplier.
This crackdown was part of a special initiative by PS Patel Nagar, known as Operation Kavach, aimed at eradicating organized crime and drug trafficking in the locality.
A specialized police unit, which included Sub-Inspector Roshan Lal and Constables Bhupinder, Dilip, and Rajkumar, operated under the guidance of Inspector Naveen Kumar, the SHO of Patel Nagar police station, with overall oversight from ACP Sunil Kumar.
During this operation, numerous raids were executed at suspected sites. The breakthrough occurred when police received credible intelligence regarding a suspect named Sameer, believed to be involved in the sale of ganja in the area.
Acting on this information, the team set up a trap near the Shadipur Flyover, successfully detaining the suspect. A search yielded approximately 1,330 grams of ganja in his possession. A formal case was subsequently filed under FIR No. 134/26 at PS Patel Nagar, according to relevant sections of the NDPS Act.
During thorough questioning, Sameer revealed the name of his supplier, Amar Singh. Following this lead, police executed a follow-up operation and apprehended Amar Singh, seizing an additional 230 grams of ganja from him.
The accused were identified as Md Sameer, a 30-year-old resident of Anand Parbat, and Amar Singh, a 33-year-old from Prem Nagar in Patel Nagar.
Police records indicate that Sameer has a history of involvement in various criminal activities, including theft and other offenses documented at multiple police stations across Delhi.
The total amount recovered in this operation reached 1,560 grams of ganja. Authorities noted that this prompt, intelligence-driven action effectively dismantled a critical local drug supply chain.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central District), Rohit Rajbir Singh, affirmed that such operations will persist as part of ongoing efforts to eliminate drug trafficking networks within the national capital.
