New Delhi, Nov 27 (NationPress) In an ongoing effort to combat illegal activities as the winter season approaches, the Central District Police executed focused raids under ‘Operation Kavach’ on Thursday. This initiative resulted in the arrest of seven gamblers and three bootleggers from different areas within the district, according to the Delhi Police.
The operation is part of a broader anti-crime strategy aimed at dismantling gambling networks and curbing illicit liquor trafficking in highly populated regions.
“To discourage gambling and the illegal liquor trade, specialized teams from the Central District conducted surprise inspections and raids at multiple sites,” the Delhi Police stated in their press release.
“Thanks to timely interventions and a coordinated field response, the teams successfully apprehended those engaged in these criminal activities. Legal proceedings have commenced against all offenders,” they added.
During these operations, authorities seized Rs 31,090 in betting stakes, 61 betting slips, two mobile phones, 52 playing cards, and various other gambling paraphernalia. In separate raids, a significant quantity of illicit liquor was confiscated from the three bootleggers.
The identified gamblers include Suraj (28) from Nabi Karim, Ved Prakash Kashyap (32) and Arun Kumar (65) from Karol Bagh, Ajay Sahu (44) from Madhubani in Bihar, Betal Singh (48) from Etawah in Uttar Pradesh, Mithun Kumar (32) from Gaya in Bihar, and Chander Shekhar (43) from Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh.
The bootleggers taken into custody include Akshay (28) from Karol Bagh and two women from Anand Parbat, aged 40 and 25.
Authorities reported that the liquor seized comprises 148 quarters of illicit liquor packed in three boxes, 300 quarters of Desi Santra liquor, and 62 assorted liquor quarters.
“The Central District Police reaffirms its dedication to strict enforcement against anti-social elements. Operation Kavach will persist in a focused and systematic approach to ensure safety and order throughout the district,” stated DCP Nidhin Valsan.
