New Delhi, Dec 27 (NationPress) As the national capital gears up for New Year festivities, the Delhi Police have ramped up security protocols by executing an overnight operation under Operation Aaghat 3.0, resulting in the arrest of 285 individuals across the South-East district. This focused initiative, designed to curb crime during the celebratory period, led to the confiscation of illegal weapons, drugs, illicit liquor, cash, and stolen goods.

The Delhi Police reported that well-coordinated raids were executed at numerous high-risk locations to identify and detain those suspected of engaging in criminal behavior. The operation targeted offenses linked to arms, narcotics, excise violations, gambling, and property crimes, promoting a safer atmosphere for both residents and celebrants.

Officials confirmed that the 285 arrests were made under diverse provisions of the Arms Act, Excise Act, NDPS Act, and Gambling Act. Additionally, 504 individuals were detained for preventive measures, while 1,306 people were taken into custody as part of precautionary actions to avoid any unfortunate incidents during the holiday season.

In this operation, the police also detained 116 habitual offenders, alongside arrests of ten property criminals and five auto-lifters, concentrating on dismantling vehicle theft networks to prevent disruptions to public celebrations.

During the crackdown, notable recoveries were made, including 21 homemade pistols, 20 live cartridges, and 27 knives. A significant amount of 12,258 quarters of illicit liquor and 6.01 kg of ganja was also seized. In an effort against gambling, cash totaling Rs 2,30,990 was confiscated.

Moreover, the operation led to recovering stolen items, including 310 mobile phones reported as snatched, robbed, or lost, along with 231 two-wheelers and one four-wheeler.

Operation Aaghat 3.0 is part of an ongoing series of enforcement initiatives. The initial phase, conducted in September, resulted in several arrests and the seizure of firearms and narcotics. Similarly, Operation Aaghat 2.0, executed in October, saw the detention of around 500 individuals in a targeted operation against habitual offenders, bootleggers, and drug traffickers.

The Delhi Police affirmed that such coordinated and intelligence-driven operations will persist in the forthcoming days to uphold law and order, ensuring heightened security throughout the city during the New Year and holiday season.
