New Delhi, July 10 (NationPress) In an extensive operation against crime, the Delhi Police southern range has reported significant achievements in the early months of 2025, capturing more than 4,300 offenders and dismantling critical networks of robbers, drug peddlers, arms traffickers, and unlawful immigrants.

The vigorous six-month initiative - dubbed Operation Garuda, Vajra, Shastra, and Nischay - has resulted in a remarkable reduction in street crime, robbery, and theft across South and South-East Delhi.

According to information released by Joint Commissioner of Police (Southern Range) S.K. Jain, the operations were strategically planned, intelligence-driven, and aimed at the core of organized criminal activities. The outcomes are telling: over 4,300 arrests, comprising 430 robbers and snatchers, 455 illegal arms offenders, and 170 drug traffickers.

The operations also led to the recovery of more than 609 stolen mobile phones, 262 kg of Ganja, 6.6 kg of Charas, 1.3 kg of Smack, pistols, 149 country-made firearms, over 2.13 lakh quarters of illicit liquor, and seized assets amounting to Rs 1 crore in cash and jewelry, along with numerous stolen vehicles and smuggled goods.

As part of Operation Garuda, the Southern Range Police pinpointed and deported illegal immigrants who had either crossed the Indian border unlawfully or were engaged in illicit activities.

“A total of 421 illegal immigrants, including 336 from Bangladesh and 85 from Africa, were identified and deported under Operation Garuda,” stated a communication from the Delhi Police.

Significant cases resolved include a double murder solved within 10 hours in Lajpat Nagar and a major jewelry store robbery, resulting in the recovery of 90 diamond pieces and 57 grams of gold.

This crackdown has led to a 45 percent decrease in attempted murder cases, a 28 percent reduction in robberies, and a 26 percent decline in snatchings, alongside a noticeable drop in vehicle and house thefts - marking a substantial impact on the capital’s crime scenario.

“Through concentrated efforts like Garuda, Vajra, Shastra, and Nischay, we have demonstrated an unwavering stance against crime in any form. These initiatives reflect our steadfast commitment to safeguard law-abiding citizens, retrieve stolen property, and combat criminal elements in the city,” remarked Jt. CP S.K. Jain.

“I encourage every citizen - if you observe suspicious individuals, illegal acts, or criminal movements, please notify your local police. Your identity will remain completely confidential. Public cooperation is our most powerful tool in this battle against crime,” he added.
