New Delhi, Oct 1 (NationPress) In a significant breakthrough, the Crime Branch of Delhi Police has successfully apprehended an individual who had evaded capture for 12 years, linked to a brutal daylight robbery in Kirti Nagar in 2013.
The suspect, Gautam Yadav (32), hailing from Jamui district, Bihar, was declared a Proclaimed Offender and had a reward of Rs 20,000 for information leading to his arrest.
The incident transpired on March 8, 2013, when a woman from Kirti Nagar lodged a complaint stating that her servant, Gautam Yadav, along with three accomplices, forcefully entered her residence, bound her, gagged her, and stole her gold jewelry, including bangles, a chain with a locket, and a ring. The sheer brutality of the crime had sent shockwaves throughout the community at that time.
While two of the suspects, Suraj Yadav and Suresh Yadav, were apprehended during the preliminary investigation, Gautam Yadav managed to elude law enforcement for over a decade.
A specialized team under Inspector Mahipal, operating under ACP Satendra Mohan and the overall supervision of DCP Harsh Indora, was assigned the task of locating the fugitive. Acting on a crucial lead, the team traced Yadav to Gangeshwar Nagar, Jaipur, where he was arrested on September 30, following a swift and meticulously planned operation.
“The operation is a testament to the relentless efforts, patience, and exceptional field skills of the Crime Branch team, which ensured the capture of a wanted criminal who had remained elusive for more than a decade,” stated DCP Indora in the official press release.
During interrogation, Yadav confessed to conspiring with his associates and betraying the trust of his employer. He facilitated the gang's entry into the house and actively participated in binding and gagging the victim before stealing the valuables.
Since fleeing Delhi, Yadav continuously changed locations, moving through Chennai, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan, taking on various odd jobs, including that of an e-rickshaw driver, while avoiding daytime visits to his native village to evade detection.
Originally from Village Kharik in District Jamui, Bihar, Yadav is uneducated and became involved in criminal activities during his early years in Delhi, forming connections with known offenders.
