New Delhi, Oct 21 (NationPress) In preparation for the upcoming festive season and significant events, the Crime Branch of the Delhi Police has effectively conducted a workshop focused on the National IED Data Management System (NIDMS), as reported on Tuesday.
This essential workshop took place on October 10, 2025, alongside a comprehensive 12-day IED Awareness training session for Bomb Disposal Squads (BDS) and Bomb Detection Teams (BDT) of Delhi Police, which was held at the Delhi Police Academy in Dwarka from October 6-17, 2025. A total of 110 police personnel attended the workshop, while 86 participated in the training.
The Delhi Police stated that the workshop on the National IED Data Management System (NIDMS) was organized in collaboration with the National Bomb Data Centre (NBDC) of the NSG Training Centre. It was attended by 110 officers from various units, including the Crime Branch, IT Centre PHQ, and all Bomb Disposal Squads (BDS) and Bomb Detection Teams (BDT).
The Director of NBDC delivered an in-depth briefing on the functionalities of NIDMS and its critical role in enhancing intelligence-sharing and counter-IED efforts across the nation.
Significantly, the NBDC is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and evaluating all reported terrorist bombing incidents, both domestically and internationally, and distributing vital information to relevant law enforcement entities, along with conducting limited research in bomb disposal.
In conjunction with the workshop, the 12-day IED Awareness Capsule Course for BDS and BDT personnel was conducted from October 6-17.
“In total, 86 officers from BDS/BDT undertook rigorous training that included theoretical classes, practical exercises, and hands-on experience with advanced explosive detection and disposal equipment. The curriculum featured practical sessions at NSG Manesar and a visit to their IED Museum, providing invaluable exposure to real-world counter-IED operations,” stated the Delhi Police in a press release.
The Delhi Police currently operates eight Bomb Disposal Squads and 18 Bomb Detection Teams across various districts and units, including the Delhi Metro, IGI Airport, and railway stations.
“The teams received training and were made aware of the capabilities of modern equipment,” the statement added.
As per the information, new equipment has been added to their inventory, including Telescopic Manipulators, Deep Search Metal Detectors, M-Ion Explosive Vapour Detectors, and RSP Tool Kits.
To further enhance safety and operational capability, procurement is currently in progress for Non-Linear Junction Evaluators (NLJE), Tactical Ballistic Shields (TBS), Bomb Blankets, Fibre Optic Scopes (FOS), Night Vision Monoculars, Electronic Stethoscopes, and IED Containment Vessels.
