Devkinandan Thakur Calls for Establishment of 'Sanatan Board' to Safeguard Hindus Amid Violence in Bangladesh

Mathura, Nov 28 (NationPress) Prominent spiritual leader, Devkinandan Thakur, voiced significant concern on Thursday regarding the persistent violence and mistreatment of Hindus, who constitute a minority in the neighboring country of Bangladesh. Thakur highlighted the critical necessity for a ‘Sanatan Board’ in India aimed at protecting the community from such dangers in the future.
This declaration follows the recent apprehension of Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, the spokesperson for the Sammilit Sanatan Jagran Jote, who was detained on Monday under allegations of sedition.
His arrest was prompted by a complaint from former leader of the Bangladesh National Party (BNP), Firoze Khan, who claimed the national flag was desecrated.
The refusal to grant bail to Das led to widespread demonstrations throughout Bangladesh, especially in Dhaka and Chattogram, the country’s main port city.
Thakur, addressing the current crisis, urged followers of Sanatan Dharma to remain aware of the situation in Bangladesh.
“While I am not urging you to travel there, it is vital to stay updated through social media and observe what is transpiring. People are labeling temples as ‘Atankigarh,’ and law enforcement is employing violence against Hindus who are protesting,” he remarked.
He also noted reports of assaults on Hindu residences and properties, underscoring the seriousness of the crisis.
Thakur further emphasized the necessity for the Hindu community in India to take decisive action.
"We must establish a 'Sanatan Board' to shield ourselves from such future assaults. Our demand is for the safety of our families, and it is essential that we devise a plan for our protection today," he stated.
The violence occurring in Bangladesh, particularly in Chittagong, where temples and minorities such as Hindus, Christians, and Buddhists have been targeted, has garnered considerable attention. India has also raised alarms regarding the safety of Hindus in the neighboring nation, where Islam is the state religion.
Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, head of the Pundarik Dham in Chattogram, leads a coalition advocating for the rights of Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh, which has experienced escalating tensions concerning religious freedom.
