Dharwad (Karnataka), April 18 (NationPress) The Karnataka Advocates Association, Dharwad Bench, on Friday addressed a letter to the Chief Justice of India (CJI) Sanjiv Khanna opposing the speculated move to transfer four judges of the Karnataka High Court to different High Courts.

Association President V.M. Sheelavant stated in the correspondence that there is a proposal to relocate Karnataka High Court justices Krishna S Dixit, K. Natarajan, Hemant Chandangoudar, and Sanjay Gouda to other states.

He emphasized, “The Bar members are in strong protest against the proposal.”

In the letter, he noted that members of the Bar across Karnataka are in disbelief upon hearing the rumors regarding the potential transfer of some of the finest legal minds serving as Hon’ble Judges of the Karnataka High Court. He added that the Bar members “can vouch for the judges’ selfless service, unquestionable integrity, unmatched legal acumen, empathy and efficiency.”

He remarked, “It is indeed disheartening for the members of the Bar and must be demoralising for the judges known for utmost efficiency, sense of justice, equity and good conscience. The proposal to transfer these exceptional legal minds would deprive the Bar members and the litigant public, having a disruptive and crippling effect on the operations of the Karnataka High Court, ultimately delivering a severe blow to the morale of both the Bar and the litigant public.”

He asserted, “It is the firm resolve of the members of this Bar that they are unwilling to let go of these judges from the High Court of Karnataka in the interest of the litigant public.” The letter described the move as retrogressive, serving as a “spanner in the wheel.”

However, the Supreme Court Collegium has yet to release any official statement concerning the transfer of judges from the Karnataka High Court.
