Srinagar, May 27 (NationPress) Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and head of the ruling National Conference (NC), Dr. Farooq Abdullah, emphasized on Tuesday that wars have never been a solution to any conflict, asserting that all issues can be addressed through dialogue. Speaking with journalists at the scenic Pahalgam tourist destination, he remarked, “When I advocate for discussions, I get labeled as a Pakistani or an American agent. I am a proud citizen of this nation. We have witnessed numerous wars, yet they have not yielded any resolutions. Whether it’s Ukraine, Palestine, or any global crisis, dialogue is the only path to a resolution.”
He further noted that Kashmir is currently very calm, with pure and clean air in areas like Pahalgam.
“Come and experience the fresh air and the stunning beauty of this locale. The atmosphere here is very tranquil, and while temperatures outside the Valley are soaring at 37 degrees Celsius, it’s a pleasant 25 degrees here,” he added.
After spending the night in Pahalgam, Dr. Abdullah enjoyed a round of golf at the beautiful Pahalgam golf course on Tuesday.
Dr. Abdullah is in Pahalgam while his son, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, is leading a special cabinet meeting in Pahalgam as a symbolic act to show that J&K will not succumb to violence and terrorism.
This special cabinet meeting, the first of its kind held outside Srinagar or Jammu since Omar Abdullah assumed office in October 2024, aims to convey a strong message that Pahalgam is safe and welcoming for tourists.
The Chief Minister will also engage with various stakeholders in Pahalgam to show his commitment to reviving the devastated tourism sector in Kashmir.
The tourist hub has been largely deserted since April 22, following a tragic attack by Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists that resulted in the deaths of 26 innocent people, including 25 tourists and a local resident.
This brutal incident sparked national outrage, leading the Indian Armed Forces to execute precision-targeted strikes against terrorist bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
