New Delhi, July 8 (NationPress) A horrifying double homicide has once again shaken Delhi, with a woman and her 6-month-old infant discovered brutally stabbed to death in the Majnu Ka Tila locality on Tuesday.
The police have confirmed that the suspect, who is thought to be the woman’s boyfriend, is currently on the run.
The victim has been identified as Sonal, while the infant was the daughter of Sonal's friend Rashmi.
Authorities reported that Sonal had recently relocated to Rashmi's home after ending her relationship with her boyfriend Nikhil, with whom she had been sharing a residence.
Investigators noted that conflicts between Sonal and Nikhil had intensified in the days leading up to the tragedy. On the day of the incident, Rashmi had left the house, leaving Sonal and the baby alone.
Taking advantage of the situation, Nikhil allegedly entered the home and fatally stabbed Sonal. Disturbingly, it is suspected that he also murdered the infant before escaping.
Upon notification, teams from the Civil Lines Police Station, the Forensic Unit, and the Crime Branch rushed to the location to initiate a comprehensive investigation.
Officials are exploring all potential leads and are dedicated to locating and apprehending the suspect promptly.
Additional details are pending. This tragic event follows another double murder that occurred just four days prior in Lajpat Nagar-I, where a helper killed 42-year-old Ruchika Sewani and her 14-year-old son Krish in a brutal act of vengeance.
In that incident, the accused, Mukesh Paswan, an aide to the Sewani family, reportedly entered their home around 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Ruchika's husband, Kuldeep Sewani, was not present. Mukesh allegedly murdered Ruchika in the bedroom, while her son Krish, who witnessed the horrific act, was killed shortly after in the bathroom where he attempted to hide.
Paswan was arrested the next day at around 6 p.m. in Uttar Pradesh's Mughalsarai. He was trying to flee to Bihar when police intercepted him at Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction. He subsequently confessed to the crime.
