New Delhi, Oct 24 (NationPress) The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has dismantled a significant narcotics manufacturing and distribution syndicate operating within the National Capital Region, resulting in the arrest of 26 foreign nationals and the confiscation of substantial quantities of heroin, cocaine, and amphetamine valued at approximately Rs 108.81 crore in illicit international markets, as per an official statement released on Friday.
During the operation, authorities seized a total of 16.27 kg of amphetamine, 7.9 kg of cocaine, 1.8 kg of heroin, 2.13 kg of ganja, and 115.42 kg of precursor chemicals, cumulatively valued at around Rs 108.81 crore.
Executed over several days from October 21 to 23, the operation was initiated based on specific intelligence. DRI officers raided a secret methamphetamine production site situated on a secluded farm adjacent to high-rise buildings in Greater Noida. This search yielded 11.40 kg of amphetamine and 110.923 kg of precursor chemicals essential for its production, according to the statement.
Concurrently, the primary operator of this syndicate was detained at his home in Gurugram, where 1.33 kg of amphetamine was also recovered.
In a prompt follow-up operation, DRI agents pinpointed additional locations in West Delhi suspected of being used for the storing and distribution of illegal drugs. These locations, found in a densely populated area with narrow streets, presented considerable logistical and security challenges.
During the raid, the officers faced numerous individuals who attempted to hinder their operations. Despite the challenging circumstances and the threat of evidence tampering, the DRI team, with support from Delhi Police, showed remarkable restraint and strategic skill, successfully securing the sites and completing their searches.
This comprehensive operation led to several arrests and the recovery of 7.79 kg of cocaine, 1.87 kg of heroin, 3.54 kg of amphetamine, 2 kg of ganja, 0.15 kg of methaqualone, and 4.50 kg of precursor chemicals used in drug manufacturing, alongside Rs 37 lakh in cash believed to be proceeds from drug trafficking.
Ongoing investigations aim to uncover the broader network and potential international connections of the syndicate.
“This intricate operation, carried out across multiple jurisdictions and under demanding conditions, showcases the DRI’s commitment to intelligence-driven enforcement, inter-agency collaboration, and its steadfast determination to combat the menace of narcotics trafficking and synthetic drug production,” the statement concluded.
