Key Takeaways
Jaipur, Feb 14 (NationPress) In a significant operation against drug trafficking, law enforcement in Rajasthan's Pratapgarh district dismantled a clandestine drug production facility located within a farm hut, as part of Operation Chakravyuh. Authorities seized illegal MD (mephedrone), along with weapons and production equipment, revealing a complex interstate drug network.
Under the guidance of Superintendent of Police B. Aditya, a specialized team from Hathunia police station executed a raid on an abandoned farm situated on the Asawata–Kulthana road.
During this operation, officials uncovered a sophisticated mini drug manufacturing setup concealed inside a hut made of cement sheets. A total of 1.897 kg of illicit MD was confiscated, valued at approximately ₹1.60 crore in the international market.
The police also retrieved various items associated with drug production, such as an induction cooker, mixer, heater, and an electronic weighing scale.
Two individuals were apprehended at the scene: Murad Khan Pathan (28), from Asawata in Pratapgarh, and Mohammad Junaid (48), hailing from Mehsana in Gujarat. During questioning, the suspects reportedly confessed to manufacturing drugs on-site for the last two days.
Meanwhile, two other suspects — Jeevan Anjana from Pratapgarh and Shariq alias Jerry from Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh — escaped under the veil of night. Police teams are actively working to locate and apprehend them.
Authorities also found illegal firearms during the raid, including a loaded pistol and five live cartridges belonging to Murad Khan.
Additionally, a Yamaha motorcycle and a car believed to be used for drug trafficking were seized.
Investigations revealed that Murad Khan has a prior criminal record with cases for attempted murder and violations of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of Additional Superintendent of Police Gajendra Singh Jodha and Circle Officer Gajendra Singh Rao, with Hathunia Station House Officer Udayveer Singh leading the raid, supported by ASI Manohar Singh, Head Constable Suresh Kumar, and Constables Mukesh, Girish Chand, Bhagwati Lal, along with driver Ganpat.
Further inquiries are ongoing to uncover the supply chain and intended distribution routes for the confiscated drugs.
