New Delhi, April 20 (NationPress) BJP Lok Sabha member Nishikant Dubey has launched a scathing attack on the former Chief Election Commissioner of India, S.Y. Quraishi, asserting that "he was not an election commissioner, but a Muslim commissioner".
Dubey highlighted the situation in Jharkhand's Santhalpargana, where a significant number of Bangladeshi infiltrators were registered as voters during Quraishi's tenure.
Dubey, who represents the Godda Lok Sabha Constituency in Jharkhand for the fourth time, made these comments on Sunday in reaction to a post by Quraishi on X.
On April 17, Quraishi posted on X, arguing that the Waqf Act is a malicious scheme by the government, which will ultimately be addressed by the Supreme Court.
"Waqf Act is undoubtedly a blatantly sinister / evil plan of the govt to grab Muslim lands. I’m sure SC will call it out. Misinformation by the mischievous propaganda machine has done its job well," he stated.
In response, Dubey referenced a historical incident where his village was destroyed by Bakhtiar Khilji in 1189.
"Islam, as preached by Prophet Muhammad, arrived in India in 712, but prior to that, this land was home to Hindus, tribals, Jains, and Buddhists. My village, Vikramshila, was burnt by Bakhtiar Khilji in 1189. Vikramshila University was the birthplace of the world's first vice chancellor, Atish Dipankar," Dubey expressed on his X account.
He accused the former CEC of misconduct during his time in office.
Dubey stated on X, "You were not an election commissioner; you were a Muslim commissioner. The maximum number of Bangladeshi infiltrators were made voters in Jharkhand's Santhalpargana during your tenure."
He urged people to come together and avoid division, asserting that Pakistan was established by splitting India, and there should not be another partition.
"Unite this country, read history; Pakistan was created by division, there will be no partition now?" he declared.
Dubey's comments followed his criticism of the judiciary amid current discussions regarding the constitutionality of the Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2025.
He remarked that if the Supreme Court intends to legislate, then there is no need for a Parliament in the country.
The BJP, however, has distanced itself from Dubey's remarks concerning the judiciary and the Chief Justice of India, clarifying that these statements are personal opinions and do not represent the party's official stance.
